Our Charleston Foodie Bucket List

Charleston, a food lovers dream!  Rich and I are no strangers to a good Charleston meal.  I wanted to share a few of our go to favorites for delicious Charleston dinning as well as our bucket list for places we hope to eat in the Holy City.  Do you have any "must eat" places in our lovely city?

Our Master Bedroom Redone!

Following our wedding, one of the most excited projects I wanted to work on was our master bedroom in our new (to us) rental townhouse.  The room is huge and our measly queen bed was just not quite giving us room to sleep comfortably, nor was it filling up the room nicely.  We also lacked the essentials like matching side tables and a dresser of any sort.   Living in Charleston, you'd be shocked at the lack of furniture stores to fit our needs!  Coming from North Carolina we were used to being surrounded by different stores.  After what felt like weeks of searching for an upholstered headboard that ALSO included wood (Rich's one request), we found the perfect set at Ashley Furniture.  We decided to get the side tables, which included a built in place to charge our phones and a tiny sliding table to place morning coffee.Check!  We also decided to get the King Bed and the Dresser and mirror to round out our bedroom update.

I've been drawn to the serenity and calm of an all white bedding set.  We used a ton of Pottery Barn gift cards to purchase a new sheet set, duvet, shams, and euro pillows to round out our look.  I used the pictures below as my inspiration, mostly because the photos made me want to dive right into these beds and never leave.

Publix Sea Food Bag Dinner Night

In an effort to eat new foods and meal plan for our weekly dinners together, Rich picked up the Publix Fresh Seafood Bag on our most recent grocery trip. Publix makes dinner so easy with this new deal.  They assemble the meal for you in a special bag that makes sure all the ingredients are fresh and flavorful.  You get to select the flavor you'd like to have it from this list of options:

Weekend Recap

We finished a full weekend with our first friends to visit for the weekend since we got married!  Corey and Meleah came down from Charlotte to spend the weekend with us and we could not have asked for more perfect weather for our visitors!  Unfortunately Rich had to work and attend a work event for most of the weekend so he missed out on some of our fun.


I found the bravery to recreate this recipe from North Carolina Charm to welcome our guests.  If you ask me, you are never too old for a funfetti recipe with EXTRA sprinkles.  I'll be saving this recipe and experiment for future celebrations in this household.  31st birthday anyone?

Bridesmaids Luncheon

 Our Bridesmaids Luncheon was held at Bermuda Run Country Club and featured a delicious lunch and beautiful flower arrangements provided by our fantastic family friend. 

 

Getting ready

 The girls spent the morning at Glass Door Salon in downtown getting ready for the wedding.  Our morning consisted mostly of 90's pop music on the salon's Pandora and lots and lots of laughter.  The sandwiches and snacks from the Filling Station didn't hurt and we did have a fantastic delivery service (Thanks Mrs V!) of some Champagne and Orange Juice..because MIMOSA.

Hanging our gallery wall

Since moving into our townhouse I've dreamt of gallery wall in our upstairs loft.  Luckily I married man who knows how to work a drill and find a stud and in less than an hour we had ourselves a gallery wall.  We look forward to finding some new photos of our adventures to take a prominent place on our new wall.  What do you think?

Cypress Gardens

The third Saturday of the month is the perfect chance for Berkeley County residents to enjoy all the wonder nature can provide at Cypress Gardens for free!  Channeling our inner Noah Calhoun and Allie from the Notebook, we took a paddle boat through the swamp and enjoyed the swamp life and sunny skies.  We've already vowed to return to Cypress Gardens another third Saturday, but this time we will be a bit more advanced rowers on our second try (ok...that was mostly me who needed some guidance.)

Wedding Day Details

It's ALL in the details!  Some of my favorite wedding touches came in all of our details.  Luckily our amazing photographer was able to capture all these details for us to remember.  From peonies to handkerchiefs, our wedding day was made all the more special by all these moments and personal touches.

Emmanuel 9 Remembered

Charleston, SC has been the recent site of yet another horrific violent crime in our nation.  My office is located quite close to Mother Emmanuel Church and the weeks following the attack, thousands flocked to this part of Charleston to pay their respects.  I was able to document the church and it's overflowing memorial. 

Each ribbon stood for one victim o the Emmanuel 9.  Many loved ones and friends left personal items or memorial notes to their specific loved one near their bow. 

 

 

Bridal Shower

My wedding shower was held at a close family friend's house and attended by family and friends who showered us with love! 

Wedding bells were ringing with this adorable cake squares from the local bakery Deweys!

 

 

I got a little extra assistance from our youngest shower attendee.  She enjoyed helping Kelly making the bridal bouquet from all the ribbons.

 

Our Honeymoon

Thank you Royal Caribbean for providing us a dream honeymoon!  Following our first night stay at the O'Henry Hotel in Greensboro, we rose bright and early for a quick trip to the airport and a flight to Ft. Lauderdale where we would be catching our cruise on the Independence of the Seas!

Our room had a fantastic balcony and we spent most nights enjoying the Caribbean views all around us.  

Engagement Photos in Charleston

Some of my most favorite photos from Rich and I's relationship have come from our Engagement Shoot, completed by our amazing photographer Jenny Tenney.  Rich and I had dreamed of having our engagement photos shot down here in Charleston.  Charleston is the city where we met, fell in love, and now reside and holds a special place in our hearts.  Plus, it's CHARLESTON!  A photography dream, and thankfully Jenny felt the same and so happened to be headed this way for a family vacation.  Serendipity brings us to these photos!  It was a warm day for February 1st, but at the day drug on the temperature started to dip.    Thankfully, we were able to get some shots we will treasure forever!
